Soul Rebel Performance Troupe, Inc. is holding auditions for:
REUNION IN BARTERSVILLE
A Comedy/Mystery in Two Acts by Celeste Bedford Walker
SYNOPSIS
The 1933 class of Bartersville High is having its 50th reunion at Janie Mae’s house. All of the guests have arrived, ready for an evening of gaiety. But…they’re in for a heart-stopping surprise when an unexpected guest arrives and turns their party into an evening of hilarious suspense.
Cast of characters
Janie Mae Hopper (black female)
A 68 year old spinster and retired school teacher.
Obsessed with keeping up appearances, her politeness
and soft-spokenness hides the fact that she’s a little mad,
as in crazy. She has a hidden envy of her friend Pollina.
Cous Pickett (black male)
Janie’s 68 year old cousin, a less educated, “poor”
relation. A gossip and a tease, he’s under Janie’s
thumb. He’s a janitor at the Texas Wax Museum.
Pollina Davis (black female)
Brassy, well-to-do owner of a string of nightclubs. Married five times,
her current husband forty years her junior.
Perry Roussel(black male)
Also 68, he was a dancer and a ladies’ man in his
youth. A snappy dresser and heavy drinker, he’s
been in show business most of his life, and resides
in Hollywood with his white wife. He speaks with
an affected accent.
Ronnie Davis (black male)
Pollina’s fifth husband. A hunk, he used to be an
exotic dancer. He may have married Pollina for
her money, but she’s getting her money’s
worth out of him.
Liz Roussel(white female)
Perry’s 45 year old wife of twenty years, from a
wealthy family. Dedicated to Perry, she’s concerned
about his health and frustrated with his drinking.
A.J. Hamm(black male)
Contends that he’s spent most of his life wrongfully
jailed. Cunning, vengeful, he comes to the reunion
to discover who “framed” him.
